Corn and Bean Planter
Identifier:
1975.001
Description:
Seeds are placed in the round metal can. The operator pushes the handle in the ground, to make a hole, then pushes forward on the handle. The flat metal piece on the front, when forced against the ground, activates the spring which releases one seed down the chute, and also marks the place for the next hole. The farmer would firm the seed in with his heel as he passed down the row.
Made by Sheffield Mf'g. Co., Burr Oak, Mich. Pat'd Oct 13, 1891 and July 25, 1893.
Donated by Miss Mary Forsythe, 1975
